Taco Tuesday
Who doesn’t love Taco Tuesday? Taco Tuesdays are typically weekly restaurant specials where people can get discounts on tacos. If you’ve ever wondered about the history of Taco Tuesday, keep reading.
Taco Tuesday was trademarked back in 1989 by Taco John’s, one of the largest Mexican restaurant chains in the U.S. Even though restaurants across the country use this term, they legally can’t. However, the phrase is so ubiquitous that most restaurants can get away with it.
Even though Taco John’s trademarked the phrase “Taco Tuesday,” it’s hard to tell who really invented the idea of weekly taco discounts under this name. Evidence of Taco Tuesday specials date back to the 1930s. Regardless of who invented it, Taco Tuesdays are an American staple.
At Verde Kitchen & Cocktails, we have a Taco Tuesday discount of our very own. Every Tuesday, all day and night, we offer our tacos at a discounted price. In addition to the price reduction on our tacos, we also sell $6 margaritas and $4 Mexican beers for you to pair with your food. You don’t want to pass up on these delicious discounts.
Our A La Carte Tacos menu offers two or three piece options. We serve taco carnitas made from roasted pork shoulder, pork belly, salsa verde, salsa arbol, chopped onion, and cilantro; tacos rajas made from roasted poblanos, potatoes, caramelized onion, sauteed kale, crema, almonds, and lime; and tacos pescados made from lightly battered local fish, cabbage, avocado, crema, and grapefruit habanero hot sauce. You’ll also want to try our tacos barbacoa, tacos camarones, and taco pollo asado.
Verde Kitchen & Cocktails is open every Tuesday from noon to 9 p.m. You can find us at 70 East Main Street in Bay Shore, New York. We hope to celebrate Taco Tuesday with you soon!
