Oct 4th is National Taco Day
Who doesn’t love tacos? Tacos are a favorite among many because of how versatile they are. Whether you’re a meat-lover, a vegetarian, or a cheese-enthusiast, you can order a taco that is sure to excite your taste buds. Celebrate your love for tacos on National Taco Day.
October 4 is National Taco Day. Tacos have a long history that likely dates back to the time of the Aztecs and Mayans. During this time, the people of what we now know as Mexico used corn in much of their food. Now, we use corn as the main ingredient in corn tortillas, which are often used to make tacos.
The first time a taco recipe appeared in a cookbook was in 1929 when “Ramona’s Spanish-Mexican Cookery” was published. The book featured six taco recipes, including a pork taco recipe and one for gorditas from Santa Nita. Years later, Taco Bell was founded in 1962. Today, you can order tacos at many restaurants across the country.
