September 16: Mexican Independence Day
Verde Kitchen and Cocktails will be celebrating September 16 as Mexican Independence Day. On that date in 1810 Catholic Priest, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla issued his Grito do Dolores or “Cry of Dolores.” Father Costilla read his statement in the town of Dolores, hence giving the document the name of the town.

The history of the Margarita dates all the way back to 1938, when Mexican restaurant owner Carlos (Danny) Herrera concocted the drink at his restaurant for a showgirl named Marjorie King.
